FMI Announces Sale of The Sage Group to Aperture

FMI Capital Advisors (FMI) is pleased to announce that The Sage Group, Inc. (Sage) has sold to Aperture, LLC (Aperture), a portfolio company of Dallas-based private equity fund Trinity Hunt Partners. FMI Capital Advisors served as the exclusive financial advisor to Sage for this transaction, which represents its third in this industry niche.

Based in Denver, Colorado, Sage is a premier provider of claims dispute and litigation consulting and expert witness services to the international construction industry. The company’s specific service offerings include claim preparation and analysis, damages analysis, evaluation of cost overruns, disruptions and delays, schedule analysis, construction defects and cost of repair/cost estimates.

Sage CEO Bill Schwartzkopf said, "Joining Aperture will allow us to both continue to provide our clients with high quality and timely services while expanding our capabilities to better serve our clients."

“It goes without saying that none of this would have been possible without FMI’s support and guidance,” added Schwartzkopf. “Their team was instrumental in finding us the right partner and negotiating optimal terms on our behalf.”

Aaron Bachik, Managing Director at FMI, added, “We were delighted Bill selected us to represent Sage in this transaction. He and his firm are pioneers in this industry, and the level of interest we received from both private equity funds and strategic acquirers reflects how highly thought of Sage is in the market.”

Sage received legal representation in the transaction from Welborn Sullivan Meck & Tooley, P.C.; and accounting advisory from Armour Consulting.
